The Wedding Tales 1: Lola, Oficio y las invitaciones

Son tantas las personas geniales y talentosas que he conocido gracias a la boda, que no caben ni de lejos en un solo post, así que hoy empieza una serie de relatos bodiles (léase, relativo a la boda) dedicada a mis ángeles creativos:

Uy, que noño me ha quedado esto de ángeles… pero juro que es como las ví en medio de todo el estrés organizativo…

Bueno, empecemos:

LOLA, OFICIO Y LAS MÁS BONITAS IMPRESIONES JAMÁS SOÑADAS

La primera alma talentosa con la que me crucé en el arduo camino bodil fue la increíble maestra del letterpress Lola. Desde Oficio y su taller de letterpress, Lola no sólo hizo las participaciones más bonitas y cuidadas que hubiera podido imaginar, sino que encima nos dio la idea que para mí las hizo únicas: las acuarelas. La idea inicial era que la invitación fuese a dos tintas, una gris oscura para los trazos y una roja para las rosas. Colores planos y a lo diseño gráfico. Lola nos sugirió pintar las rosas a mano con acuarelas, dándole así mucha más textura y haciendo cada invitación única. No puedo agradecerle suficientemente su ayuda y el trabajo que puso en todas y cada una de las participaciones. Y además, cuando estuve por Valencia me llevó a tomar la mejor horchata del mundo mundial! Aún sueño con ella…

El diseño de las invitaciones fue trabajo conjunto: la ilustración vino de mi mano y el bloque tipográfico de la de mi santo marido (hehe). Cómo necesitábamos parte de las invitaciones en español y parte en inglés, no quisimos marear a Lola y mandamos hacer dos sellos para imprimirlas manualmente en casa según viéramos. Los sellos resultaron ser dos Señores sellos (por precio y tamaño) que ahora nos sirven de a) recuerdo decorativo, b) aguanta libros. Dos en uno! ;)

Thanks to the wedding I’ve met and gotten the chance of working with so many great and talented people that it would never fit in just one post. And this is how today begins a series of wedding tales, dedicated to my creative angels: Raquel of 3 Deseos y medio, Laura of Fueron Felices, Paula of Jabones Olivia, Lola of Oficio, Jenny of I love Muffins, Andie of Oh! Where is Alice?. Ok, that “angels” part was a bit corny… but I swear that’s how I saw these ladies amidst all the preparative chaos.

So let’s begin: LOLA, OFICIO & THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PRINTS I EVER DREAMED OF

The master of letterpress Lola was the first talented soul that crossed my arduous path towards the perfect wedding. With Oficio and her letterpress workshop, Lola not only printed the most beautiful and detailed invites I could have ever wished for, but also gave us the idea that in my opinion made them unique: the watercolours. The initial idea was to print them in two inks, grey for the lines and red for the roses. Flat colours and very graphic designery. Lola suggested we painted the roses by hand with watercolours, not only giving more texture to the design but making each invite unique. I can’t begin to thank her enough for her help and the work she put on each and every invite.

The design of the invites was a shared effort: the illustration was my job, and the typographical block work of my hubby (hehehe). We needed part of the invites to be in English and part in Spanish, so we decided to give Lola a break and we ordered two stamps to hand print de backs of the invites as when needed. The stamps ended up being two massive wood pieces that we can now use as a) decorative memorabilia b) book ends. Deal!
